Hiking the Camino
You might reasonably wonder why anyone would shoulder a heavy backpack, grab a walking stick and hike across Spain. Whatever happened to planes, trains and automobiles? But Father Dave Pivonka knew that the Camino—the ancient pilgrim path to the tomb of Saint James the Apostle in Santiago—offered an opportunity to focus on God in the stripped-down environment typical of the religious journey known as a pilgrimage. Father Dave takes you along with him, eager to show that God wants to take care of you whether or not you can see down the road or, if tired and sore, you're tempted to quit. His Camino hike holds real lessons for your own life's journey.

"Almost all of the social media surrounding the Camino comes from secular authors, and focuses on the physical (hiking) and social (hostels, dining, sites) side of the trek. Very little focuses on the spiritual aspect of walking in the footsteps of centries of pilgrims, and the contemplative aspect of praying while walking the 500 miles, Not written in a heavy theological way but in a manner that makes you want to keep reading and puts you on the road next to Father. You feel his physical struggles on the journey. You pray with him through his spiritual enlightenment along the way. Truly fascinating whether or not such a journey is on your bucket list. Recommended read!" - Hathi
"FABULOUS!!!!! One of my favorites! Father Dave, wrote a very humorous and adventurous account of his pilgrimage and I really didn't want to put it down! Then as the book was about to end, didn't want it to end! I like that Father Dave added scripture in and shared how our Father was teaching him things along his walk, and then Father Dave was teaching me, along his walk! I laughed full belly cramps during some of his adventures! Had to put the book down, finish laughing, dry my eyes and begin the paragraph over again! Highly recommend!" - Valerie
